ART DECO NECKLACE - BLUE GALALITH AND WHITE METAL

This is a great Art Deco necklace from the 1930s.  Made of white metal - probably chrome - and blue galalith.  It resembles Jakob Bengel but I have not seen it in the books so I am not going to attribute it to that factory.  There were other factories making similar jewellery.  It is quite short - at nearly 18 inches.  It has not been altered in any way - unlike to many items one seems around.  It is in good condition. Price £148 Ref: 3145 C78/27.

ART DECO BLACK & SILVER GLASS BELT BUCKLE

In the Art Deco period a lot of clothes were made by a dress maker - or at home.  Buttons, belt buckles and other trimmings would be bought to go with the material of the outfit.  This Art Deco belt buckles would have been used to make a belt for a dress.  It is in black and silver glass.  It has 4 metal rings on the back to sew on to the belt.  It is in good condition considering its age!  Full details are on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - I usually have a selection of belt buckles of different periods in my shop at Grays Antiques.  Ref: 3040 C53/22

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE TURTLE - GOLDEN BROWN AND GREY

This Lea Stein Turtle brooch has a black body with rectangles of a shiny golden brown colour on a grey mother of pearl.  Have been asked several times for a turtle but this is the first one I have seen recently that I liked.  I am very funny about my Lea Stein colours!  This one is great because - although it has a black body - it will still show up on a black garment.  Just one of the Lea Stein brooches I have in my shop at Vintage Modes in Grays Antiques in central London - just a few minutes from Bond Street underground station - what could be easier!  Ref: 3033 C58/12 price £65

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL VINTAGE JEWELLERY LOVERS!

I just love vintage jewellery and am looking forward to another year of hunting out more exciting pieces to put in my shop at Vintage Modes in Grays Antiques (Central London).  Only a small percentage of my pieces actually lands up on my web site.  I simply to not have the time for all the photography!   This year I have worked with stylists from both well known publications and the more unusual ones on photoshoots.  Love meeting all the young people just starting out on a career in styling.  I hope 2016 will be a good one and hope I will meet some of you in the shop.

VINTAGE JEWELLERY - MY OBSESSION!

I love jewellery - both antique and vintage!  I have been dealing in vintage jewellery for at least 35 years - and collecting for much longer.  I sell right across the board - from vintage plastics to Victorian - but not the high end pieces - no gold!  Most of the items in my shop at Grays Antiques are under £100 and lots of people come in for presents, weddings and if they are going somewhere special!  Grays also attracts the collectors - and I have compacts, bakelite, Art Deco, Czech. jewellery etc. to cater for people interested in something special.  Here is a picture of some of my inexpensive plastics - just right for summer!
