LEA STEIN BROOCH - HALF COLERETTE - BLACK, RED, IVORINE & GOLD

This is the

Lea Stein half colerette brooch. In Judith Just's book 'Lea Stein Jewelery' (Schiffer) it is also referred to as 'Modern Woman' but is not normally referred to that way. The hat is a shiny patterned brown/beige colour. The face is ivorine with a black eye. The piece over the ear is a red/MOP pattern with a circular piece in the middle. The colorette is black with gold markings. It measures roughly two inches diameter. It is a genuine Lea Stein brooch with Lea Stein Paris on the pin. (Please see picture of the back). LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE QUARRELSOME CAT - FLORAL PATTERN

This is the quarrelsome cat brooch from Lea Stein.  I call it the tall cat because it is nearly 4 inches in length.  This one is in a floral pattern design in a pinky red and deco green.  It has black ears and eyes - that have a hint of a sparkle.  It is a genuine Lea Stein - not a copy or a fake - and a lot of work goes into the making of one of Lea Stein's brooches.  This is one of the many Lea Stein's I have in my shop at Alfies Antiques - they are always popular.  Ref: 3358 D47/4

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE HALF COLERETTE - IVORINE, NAVY & MOP

This is the Lea Stein half colerette - or half ruff - brooch.  This one was first designed between 1968-1980.  It is in navy, ivorine and a creamy yellow colour with mother of pearl type shiny pieces included. LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE PENGUIN - BLACK RED WHITE

I love the Lea Stein penguin - it just has such an attitude.  It is always very popular in my shop at Alfies Antiques in central London.  This penguin is in black with a red face and eye, pale green beak, swirley white grey front.  It has the correct Lea Stein Paris mark on the pin and is not a copy or fake.  If you are not familiar with Lea Stein please go to my web site and scroll down the left hand side to 'Manufacturers my Notes' for into.  The web site will also list some of the Lea Stein's that I have in the shop - with pictures of the backs and measurements.  All my Steins are priced at £65.  The reference for this one is 3326 D39/19.

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE DECO CAT - BLACK AND SWIRLEY WHITE

The deco cat is one of my favourite Lea Stein designs.  It is also one of the older one - but this particular brooch has been made recently.  Although in her eighties Ms. Stein is still busy making her wonderful brooches - that are popular the world over!  I have never had this particular design in black and white before and think it looks great - I would wear it on a black jacket (black being my favourite colour!).  Please see my web site for details.  Ref: 3322 D39/18

LEA STEIN BROOCH = THE JOAN CRAWFORD = RED BLACK IVORINE

This is the Lea Stein woman's head brooch that is known as the Joan Crawford.  In the Lea Stei Jewelry book - written by Judith Last - it says this was designed between 1968-80.  It is a very popular brooch in my shop at Alfies Antiques in Marylebone.  I particularly like the colours in this one.  The hair is in typical Lea Stein layers of black, red and cream.  The face is an ivorine colour and the jacket is in a swirley red patter with a plain collar.  This one measures approx 2 x 2 1/4 inches.  It is priced at £65.  The reference number is 3308 D31/14.  It is one of a good selection of Lea Stein brooches I have in my shop.  If you are looking for a particular model please let me know and I will see if I can get one.

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE GREEN FROG

Love this Lea Stein green frog brooch.  Half of the brooch is in a vibrant emerald green pattern.  The other half is more subdued - in a leaf green complicated pattern with stripes.  The brooches are made of cellulose acetate and I do not know how she manages to create such a wealth of textures, colours and patterns in her brooches.  Love the cream and black eyes too!  Price £65 Ref: 3302 D31/12

20 years. The red fox has always bee popular - but this one, with black musical notes, is a bit more unusual! It is a genuine Lea Stein and correctly marked on the pin.
