LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE HALF COLERETTE - IVORINE, NAVY & MOP

This is the Lea Stein half colerette - or half ruff - brooch.  This one was first designed between 1968-1980.  It is in navy, ivorine and a creamy yellow colour with mother of pearl type shiny pieces included. LEA STEIN BROOCH = THE JOAN CRAWFORD = RED BLACK IVORINE

This is the Lea Stein woman's head brooch that is known as the Joan Crawford.  In the Lea Stei Jewelry book - written by Judith Last - it says this was designed between 1968-80.  It is a very popular brooch in my shop at Alfies Antiques in Marylebone.  I particularly like the colours in this one.  The hair is in typical Lea Stein layers of black, red and cream.  The face is an ivorine colour and the jacket is in a swirley red patter with a plain collar.  This one measures approx 2 x 2 1/4 inches.  It is priced at £65.  The reference number is 3308 D31/14.  It is one of a good selection of Lea Stein brooches I have in my shop.  If you are looking for a particular model please let me know and I will see if I can get one.

This is an unusual Lea Stein tall cat brooch.  I have not had this colourway before.  It is in a golden yellow colour with tiny sparkles in the pattern.  It is quite tall at about 4 inches.  The ears and eyes are black and it has a curved tail.  It is a genuine Lea Stein - one of many I have in my shop at Alfies Antiques in central London.  Ref: 3296 D31/10 Price £65

This is a Lea Stein half colerette brooch.  This brooch is far more complicated than many of the Lea Stein brooch.  There are so many layers of colours.  This could never be copied by the Chinese manufacturers who are so fond of copying her brooches.  It really is superb.  If you enlarge it you can see all the layers.  It must have taken ages to make.  One of my favourites!  Price - same as most of the others I sell - £65. I love the pattern on this Lea Stein dog brooch - Ric the Terrier.  The dog actually seems to be looking at you!  It is quite tall - at about 3 1/2 inches.  It is a genuine Lea Stein and is marked on the pin.  I do not buy the Chinese copies - which are cheap looking in comparison with Lea Stein's pieces - which are complicated to make.  Ref: 3152 D3/5 Price £65.

Love this Lea Stein peacock brooch.  It has a shiny green body and the feathers are in a Liberty style fabric pattern.  The pattern resemble fans and is in blue, green and white.  One of Lea Stein's more delicate designs!  Of course - for me - it has to be a genuine Lea Stein - I do not sell the cheap Chinese copies.  It is marked on the back Lea Stein Paris.  You will see the copies all over the place but they are not nearly as beautiful as an original Lea Stein.  They are cheaply produced - unlike a Stein brooch.  This one measures approx. 2 3/4 inches across.  Ref: 3139 C81/19

The Lea Stein cicada is about my favourite Lea Stein brooch and I will sometimes wear two at once.  It is one of the longer/thicker brooches - being nearly 3 1/4 inches long.  Had trouble photographing this one so am trying a different background - at least you can see it now!  Will have to experiment some more.  Price £65 Ref: 3135 C77/35

This is the Lea Stein Scarlett O'hara - or Ballerina brooch.  This one has a fan.  Could not quite get the face to be the same colour as the hands and feet - which are ivorine.  Find Lea Stein difficult to photograph as the light bounces off the cellulose acetate.  This is a genuine Lea Stein brooch - marked with the correct pin - Lea Stein Paris.  Ref: 3111 C73/26 Price £65.
