RED COSTUME JEWELLERY FROM MY SHOP AT ALFIES ANTIQUES, LONDON

I am in Vintage Modes at Alfies Antiques in Marylebone, central London.  I sell a mixture of jewellery and accessories.  Most of the jewellery is vintage but I also sell a few modern/collectible pieces - such as Lea Stein and Marion Godart.  Lea Stein is particularly sought after and customers love the vibrant Marion Godart clip earrings.  It is a red day today - as you can see from these pieces!

GILLIAN HORSUP VINTAGE JEWELLERY AT GRAYS ANTIQUES IN CENTRAL LONDON

In my shop at Grays Antiques (The Mews) I sell an enormous variety of vintage costume jewellery.  In addition to all the open shelving in the shop itself I have about 9 locked cabinets.  The items in these cabinets can be sold by our Reception even if I am not in the shop.  I sell items from the Victorian period through to the current day - anything I take a liking to.  I have a good selection of clip earrings - as we have a lot of customers who do not have pierced ears.  The picture is of one small cube with some brownish items in it.  Do pay a visit if you are in London.

ART DECO PERIOD SPIDER BROOCH - WHITE METAL & GREEN GLASS STONE BODY

This brooch - from the Art Deco period - is quite a large spider in white metal.  It has a flat, emerald green glass stone for the body that has facets round the edge.  Great if you like spiders!  I love it.  It is quite large.  Measurements and description on my web site.  Price £55 reference 3043 C61/19

GILLIAN HORSUP VINTAGE JEWELLERY - MAGAZINE SHOOTS

I love working with magazines and loaning my vintage costume jewellery and accessories for photoshoots.  The latest one to appear in print was some earrings I loaned for the September issue of Vogue India.  Love this shoot - photographed by Jason King and styled by Fabio Immediato (one of my favourite stylists!) - it is Sade inspired.  It is always exciting to see how my jewellery has been used in the shoots - sometimes it is quite a surprise!  It is great to meet all the stylists who come into the shop to choose - some of the young and just starting out - and some very experienced.  It livens up my day to talk to young people - full of enthusiasm and energy.  The earrings in this picture are gold tone and black.

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE RABBIT - BLUE, WHITE, GREY

Haven't had a Lea Stein rabbit brooch for ages!  One of the harder ones to find - for me  - at the moment.  It is in a swirley white and grey pattern and has a turqoise blue trim.  There are a number of fake Lea Stein's about at the moment - please do not buy them.  Unless it is a really early one, it should have a pin marked 'Lea Stein Paris' on it.  This one is £65 and the reference is 2828 C24/7.  Full details on my web site - to which there is a link.

CELLULOID FLOWERS AND FAUX PEARLS BROOCH

This unusual brooch is made of small celluloid flowers and faux pearls.  It is quite delicate and I am amazed that it has survived all these years.  I wonder who owned/wore it?  Full description on my web site.  Price £75 reference 2826 C15/29

PAVONE - DOG BROOCH - SITTING - GREY, WHITE AND BLACK

This is a sitting dog brooch by Marie-Christine Pavone.  She used old galalith (which is an early plastic) to make her pieces.  This dog brooch is in grey, white and black with a red collar.  I like her sense of humour.  You can see a description of her on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - under 'Manufacturers - my blog'.  This brooch is £68 reference 2825

CZECH ART DECO PERIOD LAPIZ GLASS LONG EARRINGS

I have a passion for the Art Deco period Czech jewellery.  I just love these lapiz glass drops earrings.  They are quite long - approx 3 1/2 inches.  It is amazing they have survived intact - so many have drops that are damaged.  Yes they are a little expensive - at £145 - but I cannot buy them - and really have to pay to get them!  Full details, as usual, on my web site.  Reference 2820 BB

GIRL WITH BAG PENDANT - GOLD COLOURED WITH DIAMANTE

This is not what I normally sell - but it appealed to me.  I do not think it is very old - have seen more modern versions of the dolly - but this one has quite a nice diamante dress and a handbag.  It is not so twee as some I have seen.  Most of my jewellery is vintage but I do make exceptions - and this is one of them!  It is on a long chain and it measures approx 4 inches.  Love it!  reference 2818 C16/19 price £35.

VINTAGE JEWELLERY - GILLIAN HORSUP AT GRAYS ANTIQUES

If you haven't been to my shop selling vintage jewellery at the Mews in Grays Antiques, it is so easy to get to - 2 minute from Bond Street Tube Station.  Am busy dusting and cleaning my vintage gems.  Usually I have so many press loans to do in a week, that it leaves little time for the basics.  Have been creating a display
of pastel colours.  Lots of early plastic jewellery - in lovely muted summer colours.  Take a look at my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - and you will find details of the vintage jewellery - and how to get to my shop.  www.gillianhorsup.com

VINTAGE BRACELET IN BRASS FILIGREE WITH GREEN, GOLD & BLACK CABOCHON GLASS STONES

This bracelet has cabochon glass stones in green, gold and black and brass filigree linked pieces - which may have been gilded.  I do not know if it is Czech.  It is unusual and in good condition for it's age - which would have been in the Art Deco period.  Full details are on my web site.  Price is £88 and reference 2817 B140/57

LEA STEIN BROOCH - SAXOPHONE PLAYER - RED AND BLACK

This is one of the more difficult to get Lea Stein brooches - the saxophone player.  This one is in green and red with black hair and ivorine skin.  One of my favourites - especially as the sax player is female!  The colours are good on this one too - especially the red sax.  It will join my selection of Lea Stein brooches in my shop at Grays Antiques Mews.  Reference 2816 B139/56 price £78.  See it on www.gillianhorsup.com

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE FAIRY

This is the Lea Stein fairy brooch - face on.  She seems to have done two different fairy broochs - one face on and one sidways.  This one has wings that are transparent and have a fine red twirley pattern.  She has sparkling red hair, a black dress with a silver pattern and her skin is ivorine.  It is a genuine Lea Stein brooch - the pin is labelled Lea Stein Paris.  See full description on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com price £88 reference 2766 C8/3

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE FOX IN RED AND BLACK

The famous Lea Stein fox brooch - but in unusual colouring.  It is a black fox with red markings - but it has a light coloured thin layer in the middle - which results in a light outline to the fox.  Very clever!  www.gillianhorsup.com - reference 2755 C6/23 Price £65.

GOLD TONE VINTAGE DOUBLE SNAKE HEAD NECKLACE WITH GREEN STONES

Here's a double headed gold tone vintage snake head necklace.  It has oval green glass stone in the heads.  It is marked 'Foreign' and 'Rolled Gold'.  It is in such good condition I though at first it was more modern - but on closer inspection I would think it was 1930-1950's.  The marks would also indicate this.  Full details on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - reference 2754 C7/6
