EARLY PLASTIC DISPLAY IN MY SHOP AT ALFIES ANTIQUES

I have just spent and after tidying my display of early plastics - including bakelite, celluloid and galalith.  Unable to show more than one section in this picture - just the yellow, brown, orange hues.  The other colours - and the bangles - are on a different shelf space.  Also on the shelf are some metal, glass and wood items.  I can see bakelite necklaces, dress clips and earrings.  some celluloid brooches.  A yellow fabric bag with a celluloid top, some wooden bead brooches, Deco earrings, dog brooches and lots of assorted earrings.  I just love this period of costume jewellery and always try to have a good selection.  This of course are in just one of the many cabinets I have in the shop.  People thing Alfies is difficult to get to - but it is really quite easy - being near to St. Marylebone and Edgeware Road underground stations.  The 139 and 189 buses stop very near- as do the buses along the Edgeware Road.  The Rooftop Cafe sells excellent coffee and cakes and on a good day you can sit outside.  Would love to meet you so do pay a visit if you are a Deco fan!

COLOURED RINGS VINTAGE CLIP EARRINGS

In my vintage costume jewellery shop in Alfies Antiques I sell a huge variety of earrings and specialise in clips.  Many of my customers do not have pierced ears.  These earrings are a fun pair of plastic rings on a clip fitting.  So good for a sunshine holiday!  Lightweight and colourful!  Price £35 Ref: 3211 D12/29

LARGE MARCASITE STUD EARRINGS WITH BROWN/GLASS/CARNELIAN PIECES

Love these - they are just my colour!  Going to have to make myself take them into Grays Antiques!  They are on white metal - marked 925 - with marcasite stones and large, brown stones that could be carnelians but equally could be glass - it is difficult to tell.  I don't mind either way and would wear them quite happily!  I am not sure of date either.  A lot of marcasite jewellery was imported some years ago from the Far East but this supply seems to have dried up.  They are about 2 1/2 inches deep and priced at £88.  Ref: 3020 C57/39

GREEN & GOLD FOIL VINTAGE GLASS DROP EARRINGS - PIERCED

BLUE & WHITE BIRDS VINTAGE CLIP EARRINGS

These vintage blue and white birds clip earrings are cheerful on a grey day and I will be taking them into Vintage Modes, at Grays Antiques (in central London) with me today.  Not sure what sort of plastic they are made of, but they are in good condition, unused, and the clips work well.  I always have a large selection of clip earrings in my shop and have lots of customers without pierced ears.  I also stock some screw topped earrings - they tend to be older.  Price £35 ref: 2965 C45/34

VINTAGE EARRINGS WITH COLOURED GLASS DROPS & GOLD TONE, PIERCED FINDINGS

These earrings all came from a shop that closed in 1972. They all have lever backed earrings tops and the components - which are probably vintage Czech - are gold tone.  The drops are glass.  The earrings would have been made up in the shop and are unused. I have bought quite a lot of earrings from this shop and they will appear on the web site/in the shop slowly!

BUTTERFLIES & OPALESCENT GLASS BEADS VINTAGE EARRINGS

These vintage earrings are part of a huge stock of jewellery I have bought that came out of a shop that closed in 1972 - so the earrings - which were made up in the shop - have to be before that date.  They consists of a gold coloured butterfly hanging from an opalescent bead on an unusual leverback fitting.  I love opalescent beads and butterflies so these earrings tick lots of boxes for me!  Price £55 ref: 2894 YL3

ART DECO RED & CLEAR GLASS DROP EARRINGS - PIERCED

I really love Art Deco which is why I fancy these Art Deco white metal and glass earrings. VOGUE - FEB. 16 - 'COLOUR BY NUMBERS'

I was lucky to get several pieces of jewellery in this month's Vogue in a shoot by photographer Patrick Demarehelier and stylist Lucinda Chambers.  This picture - of model Lineisy Montero - has a necklace and earrings of mine.  The earrings are vintage - probably 1960s.  I bought a number of them on the original card - see picture.  They are £30 reference 2876 C13/1

TRIFARI - VINTAGE RED PLASTIC HOOP CLIP EARRINGS

This is a pair of vintage Trifari earrings.  They are a beautiful red colour, plastic hoop earrings, with gold tone clip fittings - holding a red ball.  They are in good condition and are £58.  Reference 2822 C19/20

CZECH ART DECO PERIOD LAPIZ GLASS LONG EARRINGS

I have a passion for the Art Deco period Czech jewellery.  I just love these lapiz glass drops earrings.  They are quite long - approx 3 1/2 inches.  It is amazing they have survived intact - so many have drops that are damaged.  Yes they are a little expensive - at £145 - but I cannot buy them - and really have to pay to get them!  Full details, as usual, on my web site.  Reference 2820 BB
