EARLY PLASTIC DISPLAY IN MY SHOP AT ALFIES ANTIQUES

I have just spent and after tidying my display of early plastics - including bakelite, celluloid and galalith.  Unable to show more than one section in this picture - just the yellow, brown, orange hues.  The other colours - and the bangles - are on a different shelf space.  Also on the shelf are some metal, glass and wood items.  I can see bakelite necklaces, dress clips and earrings.  some celluloid brooches.  A yellow fabric bag with a celluloid top, some wooden bead brooches, Deco earrings, dog brooches and lots of assorted earrings.  I just love this period of costume jewellery and always try to have a good selection.  This of course are in just one of the many cabinets I have in the shop.  People thing Alfies is difficult to get to - but it is really quite easy - being near to St. Marylebone and Edgeware Road underground stations.  The 139 and 189 buses stop very near- as do the buses along the Edgeware Road.  The Rooftop Cafe sells excellent coffee and cakes and on a good day you can sit outside.  Would love to meet you so do pay a visit if you are a Deco fan!

BAKELITE NECKLACE - MUSTARD/AMBER COLOURED BEADS

The is a longish - 0 26 inches - row of bakelite beads in two different shapes.  They are a sort of mustard/dark amber colour - but I am not sure of the correct term.  They test positive with Simichrome cream - and I have re-threaded them.  They have a nice original clasp.  I do love bakelite beads and this would be lovely with a couple of my bangles!  Ref: 2976 Price £80

BAKELITE BANGLES - PLAIN, ORIGINAL, RANGE OF COLOURS

I love plain bakelite bangles and always have a wide ranging stock in my shop at Vintage Modes.  I actually hate parting with any of them - but I cannot wear them all!  They do of course range in price according to width, colour and condition.  The thin spacers start at about £20 and a wide one could be about £65.  If you are looking for a particular colour please let me know.  They usually measure about 2 1/2 inches in diameter - which is too small for some of my customers.  Here are a few I bought recently.  Ref: 2928

SET OF 3 BAKELITE SPACER BANGLES

I am a great lover of bakelite jewellery and like to wear bangles!  Love this set of 3 - lightly marbled.  One green, one red and one which I think might be called Peanut.  The peanut one is a little more marbled.  They have the standard opening of 2 1/2 inches - two narrow for some of my customers unfortunately.  They are 2/5ths inches wide.  Could be worn as a set - or mixed with other colours.

Here's my latest addition to my stock of Bakelite bangles.  They are all plain - these are very popular in my shop at Grays Antiques.   Various widths are prices - which range from £35 - £65.  All test positive with Simichrome cream.  Love them - and find it hard to part with them!

RED BAKELITE CARVED VINTAGE CLAMPER BRACELET/BANGLE

This is a red Bakelite hinged/clamper bracelet or bangle from the c1930's when bakelite was very popular.    It is a lovely opaque red colour with cut decoration on the front and a plain back.  It is in very good condition and the hinge works well.  So please to get it - bakelite is much more difficult to find here in the U.K.  Price £175 reference 2814 C14/8.

VINTAGE BRACELET IN GILT METAL WITH COLOURED DOMES OF BAKELITE
