1960s SUNGLASSES - BROWN FRAME WITH GREEN GLASS LENSES

I have been lucky to find some 1960s unused vintage sunglasses.  This pair has a round brown frame with green glass lenses.  I love vintage sunglasses and always have a selection in the shop but find it hard to find unused early ones.  These would be better tried on in my shop at Vintage Modes in Grays Antiques in central London.  Of course - as they are about 50 years old I cannot guarantee them for protection from the sun.  Nor would it be easy to put in prescription lenses - as glass ones are tricky to remove from the plastic frame.  The green lenses are an even colour - in the photos the colour is affected by the lights.  Price £75 ref: 3045 C61/9

VINTAGE FABRIC & GILT COMPACT WITH LIPSTICK AND COMB

This very large - about 4 inches across - vintage compact has a fabric top and bottom.  I do not know who made it - it is only marked 'Germany'.  It has a lipstick container and a faux tortoiseshell comb.  It has obviously not been used.  I wonder where it has been all these years - in a drawer somewhere I presume - as the fabric is still in good condition.  Not a compact for a handbag - it would soon be worn - but to be displayed somewhere safe and enjoyed for years yet.  Price £125 ref: 3044 C61/14

ART DECO BLACK & SILVER GLASS BELT BUCKLE

In the Art Deco period a lot of clothes were made by a dress maker - or at home.  Buttons, belt buckles and other trimmings would be bought to go with the material of the outfit.  This Art Deco belt buckles would have been used to make a belt for a dress.  It is in black and silver glass.  It has 4 metal rings on the back to sew on to the belt.  It is in good condition considering its age!  Full details are on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - I usually have a selection of belt buckles of different periods in my shop at Grays Antiques.  Ref: 3040 C53/22
