BLUE GLASS, FOIL BEADS TASSEL LONG VINTAGE NECKLACE

This is a long beaded tassel necklace. It was created in a shop that closed in 1972 from old and new componants - mostly Czech.  It has 18 blue foiled beads and a central floral glass triangular panel.  The tassel is long a probably silk.  Full measurements are on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com and the price is £88.  It is a very delicate looking necklace and would look great with the right outfit.  Ref: 3326 YL

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE PENGUIN - BLACK RED WHITE

I love the Lea Stein penguin - it just has such an attitude.  It is always very popular in my shop at Alfies Antiques in central London.  This penguin is in black with a red face and eye, pale green beak, swirley white grey front.  It has the correct Lea Stein Paris mark on the pin and is not a copy or fake.  If you are not familiar with Lea Stein please go to my web site and scroll down the left hand side to 'Manufacturers my Notes' for into.  The web site will also list some of the Lea Stein's that I have in the shop - with pictures of the backs and measurements.  All my Steins are priced at £65.  The reference for this one is 3326 D39/19.

1930s COLOURED WOODEN BEADS BAG WITH CREAM CELLULOID FRAME AND CHAIN

This is a 1930s coloured wooden beads bag which has a cream celluloid frame and chain.  Wooden beads bags such as this are described in Roseann Ettinger's book 'Handbags' (Schiffer) under the chapter 'Handbags of the 1930s'.  This one is in very good condition.  It is lined with black material with a pocket.  There is a full description and additional pictures on my web site www.gillianhorsup.com   The price is £88 and the reference is 3324 D42/27

ART DECO PERIOD MIRROR GLASS NECKLACE - GREEN FLOWERS

I love Czech  mirror glass necklaces and this one is a delight!  Not your usual Art Deco pattern but small green flowers/shamrocks,clover.  (I think flowers but others seem to disagree with me!)  It is in really good condition.  It is on a gold tone metal (probably on brass).  The glass pieces go all the way round and it measures the usual 16 inches - although some chain could be added.  Ref: 3323 D36/2

LEA STEIN BROOCH - THE DECO CAT - BLACK AND SWIRLEY WHITE

The deco cat is one of my favourite Lea Stein designs.  It is also one of the older one - but this particular brooch has been made recently.  Although in her eighties Ms. Stein is still busy making her wonderful brooches - that are popular the world over!  I have never had this particular design in black and white before and think it looks great - I would wear it on a black jacket (black being my favourite colour!).  Please see my web site for details.  Ref: 3322 D39/18

FAUX PEARL, MOTHER OF PEARL AND BLACK CORAL CLIP EARRINGS

A most unusual pair of earrings.  I think they are vintage but could be wrong.  They consist of two large faux mother of pearl disks in metal frames.  There is a bit of faux black coral and a faux pearl at the top of the two disks.  They were made by Cilea Paris about 3 years ago.  They have faux pearl clips.  I do like to stock unusual pieces in my shop at Alfies Antiques - and my regular customers come to me to find something different to what is on offer on the high street.  These are certainly different!  Ref: 3321 D39/6

CZECH. VINTAGE BANGLE - GOLD TONE FILIGREE WITH GLASS STONES

A vintage Czech. bangle in gold tone on brass filigree with coloured glass stones.  I love this 1920/30s filigree jewellery.  I always have a selection of the brooches but the bangles are hard to get in good condition.  This one has a central blue glass stone with other colours.  They are all flat backed stones - rather than pointed backed ones.   The approx diameter is about 2 1/4 inches.  The bangles is in good condition.  The colour of the metal has aged - which I prefer.  Ref: 3319 YL

MARIE-CHRISTINE PAVONE - TAIL UP RED CAT BROOCH

This is a Marie-Christine Pavone brooch.  A red cat with a raised tail and a mischievous grin.  I love Pavone's work as she seems to have a sense of humour.  She is famous for re-working old pieces of galalith (a form of casein - an early plastic).  She buys up old pieces and cuts and polishes to a high degree then paints the design - a lot of skilled work.  I wish I had some more of her work and will try to find some!  Full details on my web site with measurements.  Price £65 ref: 3318 D39/12

ALFIES ROOFTOP CAFE

It is a bit hot in my shop at Alfies Antiques in central London.  The shop us next to Alfies Rooftop Cafe and I would like to be sitting on their balcony sipping a cold drink.  Not a good idea if you want to sell something!  Together with my colleague Lola we have two shops selling a huge variety of vintage jewellery, bags, hats and other accessories.  I am going to get something cold and stay in the shop despite the temptation!

BALENCIAGA VINTAGE GOLD TONE AND RED HEART BROOCH

This vintage brooch is by the firm of Balenciaga - one of the all time greats in the fashion world!  It consists of a gold tone surround - like twisted rope - with an ?acrylic red heart in the centre.  It is a genuine Balenciaga and is marked on the back 'Balenciaga Paris'.  I do not know the date of this brooch and haven't been able to find it out.  I am always please to find anything by Balenciaga to add to my stock at my shop in Alfies Antiques.  So much of the output is quite expensive for me to buy so was glad to get an item I could afford!  Full measurements and pictures on my web site - www.gillianhorsup - under 'Designers' 'Balenciaga'.  Ref: 3316 A181/46
