5 ASSORTED ORANGE EARLY PLASTIC NECKLACES

Here's a cheering colour for a cold Good Friday!  5 assorted orange early plastic necklaces.  Each one is quite different and all are currently in my shop at Grays Antiques.  They are made in a variety of materials such as celluloid and galalith.  Some have chrome fittings.  All are from around the 1930's.  Orange seems to have been a popular colour for this type of necklace.  Prices range from £65-£88.  I do, of course, have 1930's necklaces in other colours.

DUBARRY BLUE POWDER BOWL - DECO LADY TOP

I love little pots!  This is a lovely colour!  It is a Dubarry pot that was used for powder.  It could be used to hold anything - and would look good on an Art Deco dressing table!  It unscrews and would hold lots of small things!  Love the picture of the lady and her mirror!  See all 3 pictures and full description
on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - reference 2363 B103/45 Price £30.

ART DECO EARRINGS - BLACK & CLEAR GLASS - SCREWS

Here's a wonderful pair of Art Deco black and clear glass earrings with screw tops.  I wonder where these have been the last 70 years?  Have they been in a box hidden from view - or have they been loved and worn?  They certainly have been looked after.  The full details are on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - with a condition report.  Ref: 2361 B103/32 Price £88.  I do hope they go to a good home, are looked after - and last for another 70+ years!

FILIGREE VINTAGE BRACELET WITH BLUE STONES

Found a very lovely filigree bracelet - probably made in Gablonz in the 1930's.  They were made post war - but often then in Germany and Austria.  This one is in white metal filigree with blue glass larger stones and small flatback round ones.  Each segment is linked with a rosette with a flatback white glass stone.  It is in very good condition and measures approx 6 1/2 inches.  Ref:  2357 Price £75.  Full description on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com

LARGE GREEN BAKELITE DICE

Here's a wonderful swirley green bakelite dice - the colour is just great!  It is quite large - at approx 1 3/4 inches width - not quite as wide as the other two currently on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com.  I also have a very dark red bakelite one - at approx 1 inch wide.  They are going to look good in my shop - at Grays Antiques - when I put them together!  I am a bakelite addict and would love to keep them - but you cannot run a shop by keeping things!  If you visit central London do pop in to see the shop.  Full details on how to find me on my web site.  Ref: 2356 B103/37

BAKELITE LADYBIRD/BUG BROOCH - YELLOW & BLACK

This delighful bakelite bug/ladybird brooch is not very big - but still manages to make an impact.  It is in yellow and black bakelite - with black spots and eyes.  It has four brass feet and eyes.  Tests positive for bakelite and is in good condition.  Great for a bakelite collector - or anyone who likes ladybirds! www.gillianhorsup.com - reference 2353 B103/13 - or see it at my shop in Vintage Modes, Grays Antiques in central London.

LARGE PERSPEX BROOCH. BLACK RED & ORANGE

This is a very large brooch!  Made in perspex - orange, red and brown on black.  It is contemporary and made by Yves Spetht.  Such a great idea - and so striking!  Could probably be made into a pendant with a couple of rings and a chain.  Can see it on a winter coat - would brighten things up!  Ref: 2352 B104/33 Price £55.  See full description on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com

DEEP RED BAKELITE BIRD SERVIETTE RING

Here's a red bakelite serviette ring in the shape of a bird.  It has a deep mottled red body and a brown beak.  It is in good condition.  You can build up sets of bakelite serviette rings - picking either a colour - or a shape - or even mixing both - and they look really good on the table!  Some even have wheels!  This deep red colour is really beautiful - but then I am a bakelite fan!  See full description on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com - reference 2350 B103/45 - price £65.  (the red ones are usually a bit more expensive!)

LEA STEIN BROOCH - EYE OF HORUS - BLUE & GREY

Here's an unusual Lea Stein brooch - the Eye of Horus.  I do not see this brooch very often and have never had it in this colouring - which is blues and greys.  I am not able to tell you whether this is an older brooch - or whether it has been made recently.  It does, of course, have the Lea Stein v shaped pin.  This brooch would make a good addition to a Lea Stein collection.  I always have a selection of Lea Stein brooch in my shop at Grays Antiques in central London.  Some of them are on my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com -but I never get enough time to photograph them all.  Price £65 (a little more than my usual price) ref: 2343 B77/43

CZECH NECKLACE - 1930s - GREEN GLASS BEADS

Love this necklace - it's Czech and has mottled green glass beads.  Beads were often worn shorter in the 1930's.  The metalwork on this necklace is superb - from the bead caps to the decorated, cylinder spacer beads.  It seems to be in good, original condition.  I have not polished the metalwork - as some people prefer it in its original state.  Price £120 Reference 2344 B104/27.  These necklaces are getting so hard to find now - and lots have been altered.

YELLOW BAKELITE BANGLE - CARVED FLOWERS DESIGN

I just love bakelite - and this yellow colour is my favourite!  It's a yellow carved bangle with a floral pattern back and front - joined by 7 cut lines on either side.  It is in very good condition and tests positive with simichrome cream.  Would look good worn with one or two more bakelite bangles - maybe a plain one either side.  Very hard to get just the right colour on a photograph.  The inside is slightly lighter than the outside.  The inside diameter is approx 2 3/5 inches and it is nearly 1 inch wide.  Ref: 2341 B103/3 - see more picture on my web site my website is here

THE CUSTARD FACTORY - B2B'S NEW FAIR

I do not know Birmingham very well but on Saturday I went to Bennie Gray's Custard Factory where B2B were holding a vintage fair.  It was a lovely - albeit a bit chilly!  Had a very enjoyable day helping a friend who was doing the fair.  The Custard Factory was an interesting venue.  Here is a picture of the entrance.  The fair was held in 4 separate rooms and was well attended.
